Tonja Grung is widely regarded as one of the country's top taxidermists with work in many public and private collections. Tonja is probably the leading taxidermy teacher in the country & teaches more classes than anyone else.
Born in South Africa & brought up on a farm Tonja has been stuffing animals since childhood and vividly remembers an injured monkey that her family rescued & sadly died but that she managed to bring new life to by stuffing.
Tonja moved to the UK in the 1990s to study Fine Art at Falmouth University then moving to London and made ends meet working in bars whilst her personal practice moved more and more towards Taxidermy. Eventually when her skills were good enough she became a professional taxidermist ten years ago. She is a Member of The Guild of Taxidermists, has worked on many films including King Arthur, & when not teaching works on private commissions that have included as well as the normal bunnies, cats, dogs & parrots exotic animals such as Pelicans, Peacocks, Spoonbills, Unicorns & Donkeys.
